An Introduction · Jun 20, 05:06 PM

Lyric Baritone Fred Craven lives in Duncanville TX, with his wife and family, and is pleased to sing throughout the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, and beyond.

His voice is rich and resonant with a lot of squila or “ping”. As a lyric baritone, his range is just a little lower than a dramatic tenor; however, he also has an extended low range—down to a low E—making is voice suitable Handle, Bach, or other non-operatic bass/baritone repertoire. (No bottoming out on a low A). Mr. Craven enjoys singing bass in choral environments.

Recent engagements include a private lecture/recital for the Ladies Group, at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill TX, and as the tenor soloist (Emergency fill in) in Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ, for First Presbyterian Church of Duncanville.

Mr. Craven made his Dallas Opera solo debut as Benoit in Puccini’s “La Boheme”. He has also sung the roles of the roles of the Jailer in “Tosca”, The Messenger in “La Traviata”, and The Officer in “The Barber of Seville”.

In addition he has sung the title roles in “Gianni Schichi,” and “Die Fledermaus”.

Mr. Craven is a contributing artist for the startup company “The Living Opera” in Richardson TX, where he will be covering the role of Bel Core in Donizetti’s “Elixer of Love” this summer.

When not singing Mr. Craven is a freelance web designer, newsletter editor, and marketing consultant. for web services please visit Fredsweb.net.

His most interesting job was that of a singing gondolier. He is one of the few people in the country, and world, who can actually row a Venetian gondola (volga Venezia).

Mr. Craven was recently elected to the Board of Governors for the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), as the Texas / Oklahoma Soloist representative. (For AGMA related issues please use the email address provided on this page, and he will contact you as soon as possible.)
